PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 2X2 LIGHT FIXTURE INSTALLATION – SANIBEL, FL

We recently completed a lighting upgrade for a commercial client in Sanibel, Florida. The job took place in two commercial units, both of which needed updated ceiling lighting to replace older fluorescent fixtures that were showing their age. The goal was to modernize the space, brighten things up, and improve energy efficiency before new tenants moved in.

• Installed eight (8) 2×2 LED flat panel fixtures across the two units
• Removed the old fluorescent fixtures and ensured safe, code-compliant disposal

After the upgrade, both units felt instantly refreshed. The light is clearer, more consistent, and easier on the eyes. Plus, the property owner now benefits from lower energy consumption, longer fixture life, and less future maintenance. How long did the job take from start to finish?
We wrapped up everything—including fixture removal, installation, wiring, and cleanup—in just one day. We arrived in the morning and had both units ready before the end of the workday.

Why did you recommend 2×2 LED fixtures for this project?
These flat panel LEDs are ideal for drop ceilings. They provide broad, even lighting without glare, they’re low-profile, and they use far less energy than fluorescent bulbs. They are  a great choice for residential and commercial tenants who need clean, reliable overhead lighting.

Was this a complete retrofit or just a fixture swap?
This was a full retrofit. We removed the old fluorescent fixtures, updated wiring where needed, and installed brand-new LED panels. We also made sure everything was up to current electrical code.

Are these lights dimmable or fixed output?
For this particular install, we used standard ON/OFF fixtures, as dimming wasn’t required by the property manager. However, we do offer dimmable options if needed for office or retail settings.

Do you need permits for this kind of lighting work in Sanibel?
Generally, minor fixture swaps don’t require full permitting, but it depends on the scope. In this case, because we were working within existing circuits and didn’t alter the panel or load substantially, we didn’t need separate permits. However, we always ensure everything is compliant with NEC and local code.

If the space is vacant (like these were), it’s a great time to do lighting upgrades. We recommend confirming ceiling type, power availability, and whether tenants need dimming or specialty color temps. We’ll handle the rest.
