We recently completed a 50 amp generator inlet installation for a residential client in Cape Coral, FL 33904. This project was designed to provide the homeowner with a safe, code-compliant connection point for a portable generator in case of power outages.

• Installed New 50 Amp Generator Inlet
  • Supplied and installed a heavy-duty 50 amp generator power inlet box on the exterior of the home.
  • Mounted the inlet in a weather-resistant location per NEC and manufacturer specifications.
• Ran New 50 Amp Circuit
  • Installed new schedule 40 PVC conduit from the main panel to the inlet location.
  • Added a surface-mounted junction box at the transition point for a clean, professional layout.
  • Continued conduit run from junction box to exterior inlet.
• Panel Modifications
  • Installed two (2) QO 20 amp tandem breakers to free up necessary panel space.
  • Added one (1) new QO 2-pole 50 amp breaker dedicated to the generator inlet.

The homeowner now has a robust, weather-protected 50 amp inlet for generator hookup, complete with a dedicated breaker and properly sized wiring. The installation meets all NEC standards, ensuring safety during use and reliability when it matters most.

How long did this job take?
The complete installation, including panel modifications, conduit runs, and inlet mounting, took about 4.5 hours.
