PROJECT DESCRIPTION: INDUSTRIAL OVERHEAD FAN INSTALLATION WITH LIFT – NAPLES, FL
We recently completed a standard industrial overhead fan installation at a commercial facility in Naples, FL 341xx. The scope included two large-diameter fans mounted under a 37' ceiling, with final blade elevation targeted at ~29'. Work was coordinated after hours to minimize disruption and performed with a certified high-reach lift.
WHAT WE DID:
- Installed (2) CEILING FAN KIT, POWERFOIL X4, 20', 200–250V/1PH, 2HP, >725W, AFRS
- Used (2) PFX/PFD Standard Industrial Mount Kits with 5–9 7/8" beam mounts and 5 ft extension tubes to achieve the 29' blade height target
- Provided and operated a high lift for safe access at 37' working height (Installation Adder: High Lift, 30–45')
- Mounted to Z-Purlins using (2) Z-Purlin Assembly Kits (clear zinc); configured to allow fans to spin below the primary beam line
- Installed (2) Wired Standard Controls in accessible, code-compliant locations for independent fan operation
- Included Installation Adder: Structural Engineering Charges for mounting verification and load path documentation
- Performed (2) Wall Penetrations (per wall) for clean control and power routing with sealed sleeves and labeled conduit
- Verified supply requirements (200–250V, single-phase), motor protection, and proper overcurrent sizing; tested rotation, balance, and AFRS safety
THE RESULT:
The space now benefits from consistent, quiet air movement that improves comfort and reduces perceived temperature stratification—especially in warmer months. The Powerfoil X4 units are energy-efficient, built for industrial duty, and straightforward to manage via wired controls. Mounting is engineered, hardware is corrosion-resistant, and all penetrations are sealed and labeled. Everything was completed to code and with clear turnover documentation.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long did the job take from start to finish?
The core install, testing, and cleanup were completed in a single after-hours shift (one night) using a high-reach lift to stay efficient.
Why was a high lift necessary?
Ceiling height measured 37', so a certified lift was required for safe access, accurate alignment, and torque verification at elevation.
What’s special about Z-purlin mounting here?
The structure dictated a Z-purlin solution so the fans could spin below the beam while achieving a ~29' blade height. We used factory-approved purlin assemblies and engineering review to validate loads and deflection.
What power and controls were used?
Each fan is 200–250V, single-phase, 2HP with wired standard wall controls for reliable, simple operation and easy staff training.
Do I need structural engineering for my building?
When mounting to purlins or unconventional steel members, we include structural engineering to confirm load paths and meet manufacturer and code requirements.
